Primer

There are times in Draia when the forces of evil try to gain control over the lands. The moon turns red, and monsters invade the various maps. There are two types of invasions: moderator-lead invasions, and automatic invasions. If an invasion occurs, you will usually be noticed by a moderator announcement, or a warning from the GIWS (Global Invasion Warning System). As a rule of thumb, the map Isla Prima is always safe during invasions. In most cases, being indoors (in buildings, not caves) is safe, too, although there have been cases where players were killed while being AFK indoors during an invasion, but there has been no proof of what happened there.

Invasions usually happen in waves, e.g. the first wave of monsters invading map A, the second wave invading B, the third wave C, and so on. Automatic invasions are finished once all monsters have been defeated in a given timespan, if not another wave will spawn elsewhere, to a maximum of three waves. Moderator-led invasions usually take 30-60 minutes, and cover as many maps, monsters and waves as the moderator has planned.

You can always check whether there are any invasion monsters roaming Draia using the #il command, for more specific information you can use an Invasionmeter to see if there are any invasion monsters on the map you are on.

Automatic Invasions

Global Invasion Warning System

The GIWS is a player-funded automatic invasion warning system, the initial activation took 8 million gold coins, 1 million sulfur and 500 hydrogenium bars, the monthly maintenance fee is 200k gold coins.
There are four (or five if you will) levels of efficiency for the GIWS, depending on funds

  • Inactive (funding less than 50k gold coins): In case of no funds, the system becomes inactive, it can be reactivated by paying the monthly fee.
  • Level 0 (funding at or above 50k gold coins): At this level, the system broadcasts a warning when the invasion reaches the main map at 14 minutes after the new hour (for dragon invasions this probably means the last map of the invasion).
  • Level 1 (funding at or above 100k gold coins): At this level, the system broadcasts a warning when the second wave of monsters spawns at 8 minutes past the new hour.
  • Level 2 (funding at or above 150k gold coins): At this level, the system broadcasts a warning when the monsters spawn for the first time at 2 minutes after the new hour.
  • Level 3 (funding at or above 200k gold coins): At the highest level the system broadcasts a warning 2 minutes before the invasion starts.

Donations for the funding of the system are accepted by Mesterul Manole at the Lakeside docks of White Stone. Donations that exceed 20k gold coins will be broadcast.

Invasion Courses

  • Valley of the Dwarves: The "classic" automatic invasion. It starts out in the VotD Gold Mines, second cave. The second wave is in VotD, gold mines (first cave). The third wave is in VotD and endangers those people sitting at the outdoor storage.
  • Morcraven Marsh: It starts out in the Morcraven Cave (TODO: silver or gold?), then again in the Morcraven Cave, and lastly invade the Morcraven Marsh map.

Moderator-led Invasions

The maps where the invasion takes place are announced via moderator broadcast messages. Where it takes place, and which monsters and how many participate are completely up to the moderator team running the invasion. It usually starts out rather low-level, then rises up, sometimes even up to Giants (and, if Roja or Entropy participate, even Dragons).

As an example:

  1. Message from Thyralax: The monsters are INVADING NOW! Tarsengaard (under 40's), Morcraven marsh (under 60's), Ida Mines (under 80's) North Red Moon (under 110's)...
  2. Message from Thyralax: Melinis (under 130's) Aeth aelfan (under 150's) Bethel (any). All other maps will remain safe. Good luck all!

Your attack plus defense levels divided by 2 determines where you are allowed to fight. For example, if you have att 38 and def 41, you can fight in Tarsengaard.

Special Drops

Invasion monsters have some special rare drops:

The chance to get one of these increases with the strength of the monster, with the exception of the Invisible Rat. However, invasion monsters don't drop their normal counterparts' rare drops; that is, the drops above are the only rare drops that you can get from invasion monsters.
Invasion monsters otherwise their regular drops like gold coins, bones, etc.
